Place of residence
Automobile insurance rates are generally higher in metropolitan areas. That's because there are a higher number of accidents, theft and vandalism claims than in rural areas.

Policy cancellation
If you cancel your policy for whatever reason (e.g. non-disclosure of tickets, non-payment), it may affect your rates in the future. It doesn't count if you cancelled the policy yourself.

Postal code
Auto insurance rates vary, depending on where you live. Rates in big cities are usually higher than in more rural areas. Why? Because with more people living in one place, the risk is higher that an accident, theft or vandalism will occur.
