Customized water damage coverage
An ice storm damages your roof and water seeps into your walls. Or a downspout clogged with leaves drains through a small crack in your window frame. What can look like minimal water damage can actually be much more serious, causing toxic molds to form. Keep in mind that mold may not be covered as it is water damage that was not taken care of.
Here’s how the coverage works.
This insurance is tailored specifically for water damage due to the weight of ice, snow, or sleet and aboveground damage.
Here’s what is covered exactly:
- sudden and accidental leaking of rain, snow or water through your roofs or walls and doors, windows or any other openings
- sudden and accidental discharge, backing up or overflow of water through eaves, downspouts, rainwater gutters or roof drains
This coverage does not cover floods.
To fully protect your home from water damage, you may wish to add extra coverage that is not part of your basic home insurance policy.
