Water damage can be your home’s worst enemy, costing you a lot of money and causing headaches. Even if you take precautions to protect your property, unexpected incidents such as leaks and excess moisture can take their toll. That’s why you need water damage insurance that is tailored to your needs.

Here’s how it works.

This insurance is already a part of your basic home insurance coverage and is designed specifically for water damage in your home. Keep in mind that we cover the result of water damage and not the source of the problem. For example, if your air conditioner leaks, we cover the damage as the result of that leak and not the repair or replacement of the air conditioner.

You’re covered if you have water damage as the result of:

• Heating system rupture
• Plumbing system rupture
• Sprinkling system rupture
• Air conditioning system rupture
• Escape of water from a waterbed, aquarium or appliances
• Escape of water from a public water main whether it occurs in or outside your home

To fully protect your home from water damage, you may wish to add extra coverage that is not part of your basic home insurance policy:

• Water damage additional coverage - aboveground
• Water damage additional coverage - belowground

Our water damage coverage does not cover floods.

Who’s eligible?

• You must have a home insurance policy with us (and satisfy its conditions).
• You can reside anywhere in Canada.

In case of discrepancy between the information provided on this website and your insurance policy, your insurance policy prevails.
